Industry Knowledge
Jiangsu Liangwang Technology Co., Ltd. manufactures food-grade disposable plastic salad bowls and the wider eco-friendly food container family at our Zhangjiagang production base. The range covers clear PET salad bowls for cold display service and PP bowls for prepared salads, grain bowls and chilled takeaway lines, produced on German ILLIG thermoforming equipment in a Class 100,000 GMP purification workshop.
We supply catering chains, central kitchens, fresh-food processors, distributors and private-label programmes that need stable bowl geometry, leak-resistant lid fit and repeatable wall thickness across repeat orders. Our Disposable Plastic Salad Bowl range is configured around the filling line, the cold chain and the shelf presentation the product has to survive.
What We Manufacture in This Category
The salad bowl line sits inside our Eco-friendly Food Container family, alongside round bowls, square boxes and American-style lunch boxes. Salad bowls are distinguished by a wide, shallow-to-medium profile that keeps leaves, grains and toppings visible, plus a rim geometry that accepts flat, domed or compartmented lids.
- Clear PET salad bowls — high-clarity bowls for grab-and-go retail, deli counters and cold display, where product visibility drives the sale.
- PP salad bowls — opaque or tinted bowls for prepared salads, pasta and grain bowls, with better heat tolerance for warm-fill or microwave reheat lines.
- Lid systems — snap-tight flat lids, domed lids for volume fill, and compartmented inserts for protein-plus-salad formats.
- Capacity range — 500 ml, 750 ml and 1000 ml are our established clear PET bowl sizes; other volumes are developed through tooling.
Material Selection: PET, PP and Degradable Options
Material choice follows the filling temperature, the required shelf life and the market's packaging rules. We produce in PP, PET and PS for plastic formats, and in PLA, bagasse, wheat straw and bamboo fibre where a fully degradable or fibre-based bowl is required.

Critical Specifications We Confirm Before Tooling
Bowl performance is decided by a small set of dimensions. We lock these with the customer before mould manufacturing so the sample and the mass-production run match.
- Top diameter and rim profile — controls lid engagement and stacking stability on the shelf.
- Usable fill volume — stated as working volume below the rim, not brim capacity.
- Wall and base thickness — balanced for rigidity, weight and material cost.
- Base geometry — flat, footed or ribbed, matched to conveyor handling and nesting.
- Lid fit torque — the force needed to seat and release the lid without cracking the rim.
- Stack height — nested and lidded, for carton and pallet planning.
Application Fit Across Food Service and Retail
Salad bowls are used differently across channels, and the bowl format follows the use case rather than the other way round.
Grab-and-Go Retail
Clear PET bowls with domed lids; clarity and stackability matter most.
Delivery and Takeaway
Snap-tight lids and leak-resistant rims for transport in bags and carriers.
Central Kitchen Prep
Uniform nesting and denesting behaviour for automated filling lines.
Private Label
Colour, finish and printed branding applied to a standard bowl platform.
Configuration and ODM/OEM Support
Our ODM/OEM process runs from needs communication through solution concept, mould manufacturing, sample testing, mass production and quality control before shipping. For salad bowls this typically means a new mould where the required diameter, depth or lid interface differs from our standard platforms.
- Custom top diameter, depth and base profile
- Matte, high-gloss, frosted or textured surface finishes
- Colour matching and tinted or opaque bowl bodies
- Embedded logo printing, embossing or in-mould labelling
- Multi-compartment inserts and divider designs
- Lid variants: flat, domed, vented or easy-peel film
Where a bowl is part of a broader takeaway programme, we align it with our Disposable Plastic Round Bowl and Disposable Plastic Square Box formats so a single menu can be packed from one supplier with consistent material and finish.
Production, Quality Control and Acceptance
Bowl production runs on German ILLIG thermoforming lines inside a Class 100,000 GMP purification workshop, supported by an on-site laboratory. Our planned annual production capacity reaches 20,000 tons, which allows us to hold repeat-order geometry rather than re-tooling between batches.
- Incoming material verification against food-grade documentation
- In-process checks on wall thickness, rim integrity and bowl weight
- Lid-fit and leak checks on assembled bowl-and-lid sets
- Visual inspection for clarity, colour consistency and surface defects
- Pre-shipment sampling against the approved golden sample
Management system certifications held include ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO22000 and BRC Grade A, with FDA certification listed among our credentials. These support market access requirements for food-contact packaging in the destinations we serve.
Information We Use to Configure Your Solution
A workable salad bowl proposal depends on a short, specific set of inputs. When these are clear, we can confirm the platform, the tooling route and the sampling plan without back-and-forth.
| Input |
Why It Matters |
| Target fill volume and food type |
Sets diameter, depth and material |
| Filling temperature (cold, ambient, warm) |
Determines PET, PP or fibre-based material |
| Lid type and closure requirement |
Drives rim profile and tooling |
| Annual volume and order pattern |
Confirms platform vs. new mould |
| Branding, colour and finish |
Defines decoration route |
| Destination market and compliance needs |
Guides material and documentation |
| Packing, carton and pallet format |
Sets nesting count and shipping scope |
Packaging, Delivery and Ongoing Supply
Bowls are nested and cartoned to the agreed count, with carton dimensions and pallet patterns confirmed at sampling so warehouse and container planning can be done in advance. Standard order lead time is generally 15–30 days, with small batch orders completed within roughly half a month after order confirmation. Minimum order quantity is 5000 pcs, and payment terms include T/T, L/C and Western Union.
After delivery, we support customers on quality issues and replacement planning, and we retain the approved sample and tooling records so repeat orders reproduce the same bowl. Spare tooling components and mould maintenance are handled through the same project channel that produced the original tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes of disposable plastic salad bowl do you produce?
Our established clear PET salad bowls are 500 ml, 750 ml and 1000 ml. Other capacities, depths and diameters are developed as custom moulds through our ODM/OEM process.
Can you supply a bowl and lid as a matched set?
Yes. We tool the rim and the lid together so the snap fit, leak resistance and stack height are verified as a set rather than as separate parts.
Which materials are available for salad bowls?
We produce in PP, PET and PS, and in PLA, bagasse, wheat straw and bamboo fibre for markets that require degradable or fibre-based packaging. Material is selected against filling temperature, shelf life and local packaging rules.
What is your minimum order quantity and lead time?
MOQ is 5000 pcs. Delivery is generally 15–30 days, and small batch orders are completed within about half a month after order confirmation.
Do you support custom shapes, colours and printed branding?
We support custom diameters, depths, base profiles, surface finishes, colours, compartment inserts and branding through embedded logo printing, embossing or in-mould labelling.
Which certifications cover your food-contact packaging?
Our management systems include ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO22000 and BRC Grade A, and we hold FDA certification. Documentation is provided with the order for the destination market.
